I have a Navy SEAL working with me daily to provide actionable solutions, on the ground, and in person.
We pretend we care about solving this problem.
But, what is anyone ACTUALLY DOING about it.
Our heroes are dropping like flies.
They served us and were traumatized and abused in the process.
And what did we do when it was our turn to serve them?
"Here is your paperwork. Good luck with the VA."
If you are not ashamed by this — then shame on you.
OUR MISSION
To lower the suicide statistic of veterans in crisis.
To provide on the ground and in person assistance to homeless veterans in crisis.
To extricate them from the circumstances feeding their suicidality; and to provide them with as many "jumping off points" as is necessary to address unmanaged symptoms, emotional dis-regulation, and maladaptive behaviors.
Statistically, this includes a program of recovery from addiction to substances and behaviors that have kept them alive at great cost to their wellbeing.
There is not a single solution to any one of these multifaceted problems.
We are asking these men and women to surrender. Surrender is a concept which their military service has conditioned them to not allow themselves to do.
Islam means "surrender" and in many a military mind; that, is the very thing they sacrificed their body, mind, and spirit to combat.
After convincing them of this monumental undertaking, we will then be asking them to engage in service. Service, the very thing that resulted in their trauma.
Service to a community that has neglected, forgotten, and actively marginalized their suffering.

💡 Responder Tip
Cole Cameron recommends addressing needs in this order: Housing → Food → Counseling → Activities → Job Training. Getting food handled fast removes one barrier and builds trust for the harder conversations.

💡 From Jacob Silver
"If we get the vets a pile of gold they sort of fix themselves. It's all about community." The special forces community is tight — these orgs are run by people who've been there.
These organizations are built by veterans, for veterans. Showing up is the hardest part. Your QRF responder can help connect you directly with people inside these groups.
